When you first begin to use an herbal vaporizer, you may be a bit confused about how to use a vaporizer. Like anything else in life, it sometimes takes a bit of practice to get used to vaping. And with every different type of vaporizer, whether it’s a larger model, a pocket vaporizer or a vaporizer pipe, there are little tweaks that you might need to make.

But don’t let the newness of vaping get you down. With a bit of guidance, and some practice, you’ll be old hat at it before you know it. And to get you on the fast track to successful vaping, we’ve put together a handy little tutorial to get you moving in the right direction. So read on to find out how to use a vaporizer correctly.

How to Use a Vaporizer: Step 1 Run an Herb Check

Before we even get into the intricacies of whether or not you’re using a cheap vaporizer or a higher-end model, let’s start with your ingredients. As you probably know, you can use lots of different herbs in your vaporizer – marijuana or other types of herbs are commonly used. It’s important that you make sure your herb is ground or broken up a bit. Many vaporizers actually come with little grinders that you can use to get your herb to the right consistency. Don’t shoot for making a powder, but instead just make sure that there are no big clumps, seeds or stems to contend with. Once the herb is ground, put it into the bowl of your vaporizer.

Okay, now that you know that getting your herb squared away is important, let’s move on to the mechanics of how to use a vaporizer.

Step 2 Fire it up

Most vaporizers have heating elements. This is what gets your herb hot enough to emit soothing vapors. Don’t even think about simply turning your vaporizer on and starting to inhale. You have to give the heating element a few minutes to heat up. Even if you have a cheap vaporizer, it should get plenty hot enough within 5 to 10 minutes. If your personal vaporizer takes longer than this, you may want to have it repaired, or buy a new one. Crank the heat level to the highest, and allow yours to heat up for about 10 minutes.

Step 3 Connecting the Whip

Most vaporizers have a whip or hand-piece. This is the part of your vaporizer that delivers the vapors to your mouth. If you have a smaller pocket vaporizer or vaporizer pipe, you may not have this piece to worry about, but most portable vaporizers do have a whip. Make sure that you have yours attached per the manufacturer’s instructions. Once it is hooked up, place the end piece in your mouth, and begin inhaling.

How to Use a Vaporizer: Notes on Inhaling

Every vaporizer is different, so it may take a bit of experimentation to find the perfect way to take a drag of your personal vaporizer. Don’t let this discourage you. Try starting with short, quick inhaling, and see what kinds of results you get. If you’re not happy with them, maybe a slower, longer drag will do the trick. It won’t take you long to figure out the sweet spot of your vaporizer, and you’ll soon be enjoying thick, satisfying drags that you’ll really enjoy.

Now that you know the basics of how to use a vaporizer, what are you waiting for? Get yours out, fill it with your herb of choice and get to vaping. Take some time to try different techniques, and you’ll be vaping like a pro before you know it.
